Data extracted from mobile phones and other devices may be imported into Maltego to carry out graphical analyses of correlated links based on the data provided. Maltego can also extend the investigation – thanks to its built-in integrations with OSINT data and third-party intelligence providers. These integrations are available via the Maltego Transform Hub and allow querying of everything from digital infrastructure to social media intelligence and dark web data sources via small pieces of code called Transforms.
Transforms enrich, contextualize, and return pieces of digital evidence, relationships and patterns amongst the data that would have otherwise remained hidden. Specifically, OSINT data can be queried by the investigator in a safe and anonymous manner which allows the investigator to build a robust case for the prosecution while keeping the investigation compliant.
